  • 16 lessons
  • Teacher tips on every page
  • Printable progress tracker

Noorani Qaida is the first book almost every Muslim child opens before reading the Quran. It starts with the Arabic alphabet and moves one small step at a time through vowels, sukoon and shaddah, so that by the last page a student can read Quranic words on their own.

We made our own Noorani Qaida PDF for families in the US who want the instructions in plain English. It has all 16 lessons, a short teacher tip on every page and a progress tracker you can print and stick on the fridge.

What Is Inside This Noorani Qaida PDF

Noorani Qaida for Kids: How to Teach It at Home

Most parents we speak with have the same worry. They can read the Quran themselves, but they are not sure how to teach it. Noorani Qaida is built for exactly this. Each lesson adds one small idea, and the practice pages repeat it until it sticks.

  • Keep it short. Fifteen minutes a day beats an hour on Sunday. A short daily habit builds far more than one long session.
  • Read right to left. Every grid in the PDF starts at the top right corner. Show your child where to begin before each lesson.
  • Stop at the first mistake. If a letter sounds wrong, repeat only that letter a few times. Moving on with a wrong sound means unlearning it later.
  • Do not skip the practice pages. Lessons 6, 9, 11 and 13 to 16 use words from the Quran. This is where reading starts to feel real.
  • Start around age 4 or 5. Most children are ready once they can sit for ten minutes and copy a sound.

Noorani Qaida in English for Adults and New Muslims

It is never too late to start. Many adults in our classes grew up without Quran lessons, or learned as kids and forgot most of it. Others have recently accepted Islam and want to read the Quran in its original Arabic.

Adults usually move faster than children because they follow instructions right away. The English notes in this PDF explain each sign in a few words, so you are never stuck guessing what a symbol means. If you want a teacher to guide you, see our Quran classes for adults and our classes for new Muslims.

How Long Does It Take to Finish Noorani Qaida?

It depends on age, how often you practice and whether someone is listening and correcting you.

StudentClasses per weekUsual time to finish
Children (5 to 10 years)4 to 56 to 8 months
Teenagers4 to 54 to 6 months
Adults4 to 53 to 5 months

Practicing at home between classes makes the biggest difference. A student who reads one page a day on their own often finishes a couple of months early.

Noorani Qaida vs Baghdadi Qaida

Noorani Qaida

The most common choice in the US and UK. Clear lesson order, lots of practice pages and easy for parents to follow.

Baghdadi Qaida

The older, traditional book, still used in many Arab and African communities. Just as effective with a good teacher.

If your child has already started one, stay with it. Switching halfway only causes confusion.

Can You Learn Noorani Qaida Online Without a Teacher?

You can learn the letters and signs from a PDF. What a PDF cannot do is hear you. The difference between ح and ه, or between س and ص, is easy to get wrong for years without noticing, and those mistakes carry straight into the Quran. That is why we suggest pairing the PDF with a teacher, even for a few short sessions a week. Our Noorani Qaida course online is live and one on one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Noorani Qaida PDF really free?

Yes. You can download, print and share it for home, masjid or classroom use at no cost. We only ask that you do not sell it.

Is this the same as the original Noorani Qaida?

It follows the same 16 lesson order that most Noorani Qaida books use, so a teacher who knows the traditional book will feel at home with it. The design, English instructions and teacher tips are our own.

What age should a child start Noorani Qaida?

Most children are ready between 4 and 5 years old. The key sign is being able to sit for about ten minutes and repeat a sound after you.

Can I read Noorani Qaida online instead of printing it?

Yes. The PDF opens on any phone, tablet or laptop. Many parents keep it on a tablet during online classes so the child can follow along.

What comes after Noorani Qaida?

Students move to reading the Quran itself with Tajweed, usually starting from Juz Amma. Some also begin memorizing short surahs at this point.

Do you have Noorani Qaida with audio?

The PDF itself has no audio. The best way to hear and check every sound is with a live teacher, and your first class with us is free.
