How does a new Muslim start learning the Quran?
Start with Noorani Qaida, which teaches the Arabic alphabet and how letters join into words, with a teacher who explains in English and assumes no prior knowledge. Most reverts can read simple Quranic words within 3 to 4 months. Learning Salah and short Surahs usually runs alongside, since those are needed straight away.
Everyone else seems to already know things
Reverts tell us the hardest part is not the Arabic. It is sitting in a masjid class where everyone knows the words, the customs and the shorthand, and being too embarrassed to ask what a word means.
Your class is private. You can ask anything, as many times as you need, and nothing is assumed.
- English-first teaching. Every Arabic term is defined when first used.
- Private class. No group, nobody watching you sound out letters.
- Sisters can request a female teacher at no extra cost.
- Salah taught alongside, because you need it now, not in a year.
- Repeat freely. Nobody sighs when you ask again.
What should I learn first as a new Muslim?
Most reverts learn three things in parallel: how to perform Salah correctly, the short Surahs needed for prayer (starting with Al-Fatiha), and the Arabic letters through Noorani Qaida. Reading fluency builds over the following months.

Quran classes for new Muslims: your questions answered
Still have a question? Talk to a real person, any time of day or night.
I cannot read any Arabic at all. Is that a problem?
Not at all. That is exactly who these classes are for. We start with the first letter.
Will my teacher explain in English?
Yes. Clear English is a hiring requirement, and reverts are matched with teachers experienced in teaching absolute beginners.
Can I ask questions about Islam, not just the Quran?
Yes, within reason. Our teachers answer practical questions about Salah, Wudu and daily practice, and will refer you to a scholar for anything requiring a formal ruling.
Can I have a female teacher?
Yes, at no extra cost. Many revert sisters prefer it, and our Alimas are used to teaching from the very first letter.
How long until I can read the Quran?
Most reverts read simple Quranic words within 3 to 4 months, and read the Mushaf with growing fluency within a year.
Should I learn Salah or the Quran first?
Both together. Salah is needed immediately, so we teach Al-Fatiha and the short Surahs alongside the Qaida.
Do I need to buy anything?
No. We share everything on screen, though many students like a paper Qaida for practice.
Can I take classes privately without anyone knowing?
Yes. Classes are private one-on-one sessions and we never share student details.
Your first Al-Fatiha in Arabic is closer than you think.
