What age should a child start Quran classes?
Most children are ready to begin Noorani Qaida between the ages of 4 and 5, once they can concentrate for about 20 minutes. Readiness matters more than age, so a free placement class is the honest way to decide. Children who start later catch up quickly, so there is no reason to rush a child who is not ready.
Different ages need different teaching
| Age | Focus | Session length |
|---|---|---|
| 4–6 | Noorani Qaida, letter sounds, short Surahs | 20–30 min |
| 7–10 | Finishing Qaida, Nazra, basic Tajweed | 30 min |
| 11–14 | Tajweed, Hifz, Juz ʿAmma and beyond | 30–45 min |
- Short segments, never 30 minutes of one activity
- Digital whiteboard with colour-coded letters
- Stars and badges your child can see adding up
- Gentle correction, because shame kills motivation
- The same teacher every week, so trust builds
Is an online Quran class good for young children?
Yes, when it is one-on-one and short. A child in a group of twenty gets a few seconds of individual correction. In a one-on-one class every mistake is caught immediately and the pace matches the child, which is why many children progress faster online than at weekend school.
What if my child refuses to sit for class?
This is almost always a teaching-style problem rather than a child problem. Tell us what is happening and we will either change the approach or change the teacher, at no cost. Most children who dreaded class elsewhere settle within a few weeks.

Quran teacher for kids: your questions answered
Still have a question? Talk to a real person, any time of day or night.
How long should a kids Quran class be?
Twenty to thirty minutes for ages 4 to 6, and thirty minutes for older children. Longer classes usually lose the child rather than teach more.
How many days a week?
Three is the sweet spot for most children. Hifz students usually need five.
Can I sit in on my child’s class?
Yes, any class, any time, without asking first.
Can I choose a female teacher?
Yes, for boys or girls, at no extra cost.
My child has ADHD. Can this work?
Often yes, because one-on-one classes let the teacher adjust pace and structure moment to moment. Tell us when you book and we will match a teacher experienced with attention challenges. We are not a therapy provider and are happy to work alongside your child’s school or doctor.
Do you teach Islamic Studies too?
Yes. Salah, Wudu, Duas, the Six Kalimas and Islamic manners can be added alongside Quran.
What if my child does not like the teacher?
Tell us and we will move them to a new teacher the same week, at no cost.
