Quick answer

Can my child do Hifz while attending public school?

Yes. Part-time Hifz works well alongside US public school when sessions are short, daily and consistent. A typical part-time student memorizes for 25 to 30 minutes before school and revises briefly in the evening, and completes Hifz in 3 to 5 years. Full-time students, usually homeschoolers, finish in 2 to 3 years.

What you learn

The curriculum, step by step

We use the classical three-part daily routine that Huffaz have used for centuries, adapted to a school-week schedule.

1SabaqThe new lesson. A small, achievable portion memorized fresh each day.
2SabqiRecent revision. The last few days or weeks, recited back daily.
3ManzilOld revision. Everything memorized so far, cycled through on a schedule.
4Mutashabihat drillTargeted work on similar verses that Huffaz commonly confuse.
5Tajweed checkMemorization is corrected for Tajweed as it is built, never after.
6TestingWeekly recitation tests and a full Juz test before moving on.
Realistic planning

How long does Hifz actually take?

Any academy that promises a fixed timeline before meeting your child is guessing. These are the honest ranges we see.

PaceDaily commitmentTypical completion
Part-time (school students)25–40 min/day, 5 days3–5 years
Full-time (homeschool)2–3 hours/day2–3 years
Adult, part-time30–45 min/day4–7 years
Juz ʿAmma only20–30 min/day4–8 months

Age, existing Nazra fluency and, above all, consistency of revision move these numbers more than raw talent does.

Quick answer

What is the best age to start Hifz?

Most children are ready between 7 and 10, once Nazra reading is fluent. Starting before reading is fluent usually produces slow, error-prone memorization that is difficult to correct later.

The real problem

Memorizing is easy. Keeping it is the hard part.

Almost every parent who comes to us from another program has the same complaint: the child memorized several Juz, then lost most of it. That is a revision failure, not a memory failure.

  • Manzil is non-negotiable in our program, even on busy weeks
  • A written revision cycle so nothing is left to memory alone
  • Mutashabihat worked on deliberately, not discovered by accident
  • Weekly recitation tests that catch slippage early
  • Parent report showing exactly which Juz are strong and which need work

Already a Hafiz?

Our revision track is for existing Huffaz who want to keep their Hifz strong, prepare to lead Taraweeh, or rebuild after a few years away. Sessions are pure Manzil with Tajweed correction.

How long does it take to memorize the Quran?

Part-time students typically take 3 to 5 years, full-time students 2 to 3 years. Consistency of daily revision matters more than hours per day.

What are Sabaq, Sabqi and Manzil?

Sabaq is the new daily lesson, Sabqi is recent revision of the last few weeks, and Manzil is the ongoing review of everything memorized so far.

Will Hifz hurt my child’s school grades?

It should not, if the schedule is realistic. Our part-time students usually memorize for 25 to 30 minutes before school, which does not compete with homework time.

What are Mutashabihat?

Mutashabihat are verses that are similar or identical in parts of the Quran, which cause Huffaz to slip from one place into another. We drill them deliberately.

Should my child finish Nazra before starting Hifz?

In almost all cases, yes. Fluent reading makes memorization dramatically faster and more accurate.

Can adults memorize the Quran?

Yes. Adults often revise more reliably than children, even if new memorization takes a little longer.

Can my daughter have a female Hifz teacher?

Yes. Several of our female teachers are Hafizas who guide full Hifz.

Do you offer a summer Hifz intensive?

Yes. Summer intensives with daily sessions are popular for making a large jump during school holidays.

How do you test memorization?

Weekly recitation tests with the teacher, plus a full Juz test before moving on to the next.
