What is a Quran translation and Tafseer course?
A Quran translation and Tafseer course teaches what the Quran says and what it means. First you learn the translation word by word, so you understand the Arabic directly. Then you study Tafseer: the context of revelation, the explanation of the scholars and the lessons for daily life.
Two stages, one course
Most students start with the surahs they pray with, then move through the Quran at their own pace.
Read the Arabic. Understand it. Live it.
Students never memorize an English copy. They look at the ayah, learn what each word does, then hear what the scholars said about it. That is why the meaning stays.
- Word by word first, then the full ayah in plain English or Urdu
- Tafseer from Ibn Kathir, explained in simple language
- Vocabulary notebook kept every class and reviewed weekly
Can I learn only the surahs I pray with?
Yes. A short track covers Al-Fatiha and the last ten surahs with full meaning. It takes about six to eight weeks.
Is there a women-only option?
Yes. Sisters can study with Ustadha Fatima, an Alima, at any hour that suits them.

What is the difference between Quran translation and Tafseer?
Translation tells you what each word and ayah says. Tafseer explains why it was revealed, how it connects to the rest of the Quran, and what it asks of us. This course does both, one after the other.
Is the course in English or Urdu?
Both. Most US students learn in English, and families who speak Urdu at home can take the same course in Urdu.
Do I need to know Arabic first?
No. You only need to read the Quran in Arabic, even slowly. You learn the meaning of each word as you go.
Which Tafseer do you follow?
We follow mainstream Sunni scholarship and use Tafseer Ibn Kathir as our main reference, explained in simple language.
How long does it take?
Most students finish Juz Amma with translation and basic Tafseer in four to six months at three classes a week. The full Quran usually takes two to four years, at your own pace.
Is it suitable for kids and teens?
Yes, from about age 9 once they read Quran fluently. Kids start with short surahs they already know, and teens get a track built around the questions they actually ask.
